PRAGUE, October 1 - The Prison Service of the Czech Republic announces the appointment of Brigadier General Tomáš Hůlka as its new Director General, effective today. Brigadier General Hůlka previously served as the First Deputy Director General and brings extensive leadership experience and professional expertise to the role. He succeeds Lieutenant General Simon Michailidis, who held the position since 2021 and oversaw significant developments within the Service during his tenure.

In connection with this leadership transition, the position of First Deputy Director General has been formally terminated. A new executive role—Deputy Director General for Security, Internal Control, and Inmates Treatment—has been established to enhance operational focus and strategic oversight. This position is now held by Brigadier General Petr Červený, who has served as Director of Příbram Prison for the past six years.

The Czech Prison Service expresses its gratitude to General Michailidis for his dedicated service and welcomes General Hůlka and General Červený to their new roles.
