Continued support to the Prison Service of Ukraine
Prague, July 30 - The Prison Service of the Czech Republic expresses its continued strong support for the Prison Service of Ukraine, whose prison was the target of a bomb attack this week. The attack killed nearly twenty inmates, injured dozens more, including prison staff, and caused extensive damage to the prison infrastructure and its surroundings.
On Monday evening, the Bilenkovo Prison in the Zaporizhzhia region was hit by glide bombs. Such attacks on non-military targets, including prisons, are a violation of international humanitarian law. The Prison Service of the Czech Republic recently signed a cooperation agreement with The Penitentiary Academy of Ukraine and donated several unused escort vehicles to the Ukrainian Prison Service.
In light of this cooperation, the Prison Service of the Czech Republic emphasizes its continued collaboration and support for its Ukrainian colleagues, who have been facing unprecedented aggression from their neighbor for several years.
